Friends of the Tug Fork meeting scheduled for March 1


The Friends of the Tug Fork have scheduled their second meeting for March 1.

The purpose of the meeting is to start working on the development of the Tug Fork as a West Virginia Recreational Water Trail and a Kentucky Blue Water Trail.

The meeting is open to ALL people interested in improving the Tug and its public access points from McDowell County, WV and Pike County, KY all the way to the Louisa/Fort Gay communities.

Attendees will include state agency representatives, city and county officials, tourism officials and most importantly users and potential users of the river as well as business owners.

The meeting will be held at the Williamson Fire Department, 147 E 4th Avenue, Williamson WV on the 2nd floor. Meeting starts at 6 and a meal will be served. The first meeting of the Friends was held in Matewan in December with over 100 people in attendance.

If you love the Tug and have ideas and suggestions on how to improve it, then come on down to Williamson on March 1st!! Come and see why the Tug Fork River is the best kept secret in southern WV and Eastern Ky!
