LCHS sophomore top archer in Kentucky
Bow hunting is a popular pastime for many in Kentucky. Some may claim to be the best archer around, but 15-year-old Ben Fannin has proven himself to be the best Kentuckian in his class.
On March 3, Fannin traveled to Madisonville, where he won a $11,500 scholarship for his first-place finish at the Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) Indoor Kentucky State Championship. Fannin beat out 74 other shooters in his class.
One week after state, Fannin competed in the S3DA National Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he finished 4th out of 125 shooters.
Fannin was introduced to archery by his farther, Al, who is also his coach.
He started shooting S3DA in 2016 and currently shoots in the Male High School Pins Class for Broken Arrow Archery Club.
Outside of competitive archery, Fannin also enjoys deer and turkey hunting. He is currently a sophomore at Lawrence County High School and plans to continue following his passion for archery at the collegiate level.
