Fannin wins Kentucky Shooter of the Year award

In 2017, Ben Fannin was named Kentucky Indoor Shooter of the Year. This year, he’s going above and beyond his former title.

At the close of his third season, the Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) athlete has proven himself to be one of the best teen archers in the nation, excelling in Indoor 5 Spots, 3-D, and Outdoor Target “Field Archery” events.

In May, Fannin earned the title of Kentucky State Champion for Indoor 5 Spots and Outdoor Target shooting, receiving a $11,500 scholarship for each event.

The 16-year-old also won Overall Shooter of the Year based on his combined scores from all three archery events in the Kentucky S3DA Championship.

The recipient of Shooter of the Year title is awarded a belt buckle, a treasured prize in the world of archery.

Fannin, who shoots for Broken Arrow Archery Club, is an accomplished shooter beyond the state of Kentucky. He placed third in the Outdoor Target Nationals in Raleigh, North Carolina, earning a $9,500 scholarship.

Ben said he is proud of his accomplishments this season, but is working to improve his skills in 3-D shooting after a sixth place finish at the state level.

This August, Fannin will be entering his junior year at Lawrence County High School. His fourth season competing in S3DA will begin January 2019.
