LC Youth Football D Team Cheer takes home Grand Champion title

The Lawrence County Youth Football League 2018 D Team Cheerleaders won Grand Champions of Small Division at the Tri-State Youth Football League’s (TSYFL) Annual Cheer Competition.

Grand Champion status is achieved by having the highest combined scores out of all team in the division. Lawrence County’s squad also placed first in both technical cheer and dance.

“This season has had its ups and downs,” parent, Savannah Fitchpatrick said. “These girls went from not placing at all to becoming grand champions because our coaches and girls had the hearts and never gave up on what they loved. It took a lot of time, sweat, tears, and long practices, but it all shows in the end.

The Competition was held Oct. 6 at Spring Valley High School. Other competing squads included Ceredo Kenova, DC Express, and Huntington.

The team was coached by Heather Compton, Sheena Potter, and Lisa Webb.
