More than a Painter
Jamie Painter’s name suits her well, but it doesn't limit her to just a brush and canvas. Painter is an artist of many mediums- music, photography, pastels, charcoals, pencils, and even action figure customization.
Painter said she developed a passion for art at a young age, with both of her parents being artists.
“I can remember decorating the toy box my dad made for us.”
In elementary school, Painter’s art teacher all
owed her to take over a drawing lesson. “The art teacher was trying to draw a Ninja Turtle on the chalkboard and I raised my hand and asked her if I could fix it.” Painter said. “She had me redraw the whole thing for the class to draw.”
At the age of 13, Painter taught herself how to play guitar. She is now teaching herself how to play harmonica.
Her proudest work is a black and white portrait of one of her biggest inspirations- Dolly Parton.
“It’s the first real, detailed portrait I’ve ever done with paint.” Painter said.
Painter is currently working on several commissioned woodworking projects and plans to create more music in the future.
