Second annual Turkey Trot slated for Thanksgiving morning
Louisa- The Lawrence County Tourism Commission and Louisa Trail Town Committee are hosting their second annual “Turkey Trot” Thanksgiving morning.
The event is free. All cash donations will be distributed to local backpack programs. Backpack programs provide students in need with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food weekly to guarantee adequate calorie intake on the weekends. Any food donated will be given to a local food bank.
Last year’s “ Trot” raised $580 for backpack programs and a trunk load of food for food pantries.
The 2018 Turkey Trot will begin 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22 at Lawrence County High School. The Trot has 1, 2, and 3 mile options, all contained within the LCHS campus.
The first 60 people who register for the event will receive a “Turkey Trot” t-shirt.
Anyone interested can text their name and shirt size to 606-369-0672.
