Library summer feeding program providing free meals to children
LOUISA- The Lawrence County Public Library is providing free hot meals to children ages 18 and under as part of its annual Summer Feeding Program. Lunch is catered by Dee’s Drive Inn and served Monday – Friday from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the library.
A second location has been added this year. Meals are also served at The Drop youth center Monday – Friday from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. The Drop is located at 60 Professional Drive, Louisa. Additionally, community stops and mobile routes will distribute bagged lunches to other areas of the county.
Summer Feeding began May 28 and will run until August 6. No registration required. Feeding will not be available July 4 or weekends. The mobile route schedule, menus, and additional information available at: http://lcplky.org/2019-summer-feeding/
In summer 2018 the library served over 2,000 meals to children. The Summer Food Service Program is administered by the Kentucky Department of Education.
